I've read this paper few pages ago. Do not want to go into detailed discussion. I was not trying to insult your intelligence, just asking for your thoughts on it :). Edit: I think that memory protection is provided by lv1_gpu_ioremap function. That function could be a nice candidate for what I was ...

I do not think that RSX DMAs are protected at the bus level. According to the patent I quoted a few pages ago, they are (quoted text and then patent figure FIG. 1). A memory access control apparatus executes memory access after the apparatus has determined whether access to memory is granted or not...

Now, Sony is now officially and actively blocking attemps from the community to get decent 2D/3D grafik performance? Breaking half of the installed linux base? One week before christmas? Really nice work, Sony, great. How much does a 360' cost again? Calm down :), going by the fact that this little...

jonwil, you do not understand. With this update Sony also breaks half of linux installations. PS3 linux code holder Levand Geoff did not know about these changes. Luckily I did not update to the very latest kboot.bld, I updated to FW 2.10 and the only thing that is not working anymore is ps3rsx kmo...

I do not have problems running or compiling, just that in some cases you can basically force some problems where there should not be none no matter what you play around with :). About the 9 MB of reserved XDR memory: since a few PS3 kernel releases ago the ps3fb interface got some changes and one of...

Issues with ps3rsx kernel module or Xorg drivers thread
I thought about opening this thread to collect issues users experience when using Glaurung's kernel module and driver and that was separate from the FIFO hunting and binary drivers discussion :). Kernel: 2.6.24-rc5-gdf3521d4 Issue: rmmod-ing and insmod-ing of the ps3rsx.ko kernel module. Procedure: ...

Thanks for your reply Glaurung, strangely enough I own a launch PAL PS3 (60 GB model) too... strange hat we have so different RSX revision but plausible :). I am glad the new reserved size is not an issue for RSX usage: so that everyone can enjoy it (people who want to use RSX and people who do not:...

Glaurung, could you go over the proper way to replace the fbdev driver and use the kernel module + your new Xorg driver ? I seem to have some issues in starting X with your two new modules. Glaurung, your patch was easily fixable or should I say updatable (well I applied the patch, got an original copy of the two modified files and fixed the patched files and re-generated the patch with git diff although I need to get it better looking than a/a/drivers... etc... :() to make the ps3fb.c...

Tracking geoff's tree will always be problematic. Now that I know it is possible, I'll provide a separate kernel module for the GPU stuff. Another solution would be to have our own ps2dev git tree for the kernel. If we are going to make an easy to install CD for 3D development, as suggested, we wil...
