hey. Is it a piece of tape with a few different parallel silver strips? If it is then its connecting two things electrically. It should be connected to circuit boards or dvd drives or somethng at both ends. The slots they go in are pretty distinct, just plug it back in to that the conducting side is...

Use that address on the Windows side to reach the PS2 thats what i think i am not able to get working. the ip address in ipconfig.dat is the same as what appears on the screen when ps2link runs i assume. I've made some progess. I set one of the connections under network connections to the ip addres...

windows doesn't recognize my ps2
well, now i have the exploit and an appropriate ps1 game. I have sucessfully loaded ps2link v1.45 on the ps2 side. I connected to the ethernet thingy on the ps2 to my pc with an ethernet cable via a router. opening xlink (beta 1), i find it says "offline". I think windows in general isn't ...

hey jbit, what do you mean when you say the ps2 bios is autorized before its booted? do you mean theres some kind of validity check the ps2 runs before loading off the bios chip? I am unfamiliar with the specifics of the ps2 architecture. is there a kernal eprom and a seperate bios eprom? the author...

do you not know about putting leds in a playstation two, or you don't know about leds in general? Since you want to mess around with the power supplies, its necessary for you to know about electricity in general (volatge, current, etc.) and leds in particular. If you don't know how to use a volt/ohm...

thanks jbit for the excellent reply. I'll just mess around with ps2snd and wait for a tutorial. I'm sure it'll be awesome when it shows up but i understand what its like to be busy. My goal is to beable to construct musical sounds and sound effects using dsp algorithims, adapting in real time to wha...

ps2 audio
howdy all, I've been looking for a while for some audio tutorials for the ps2. http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=4122 In this thread, several people talk about making some tutorials, and there are excellent links to info on the spu (although i'm not very sure about exactly how similar the spu...

matrix, I think i don't understand what you want. You mean hook a play station two up to a computer monitor? from what i understand, your average computer monitor is fed red, green and blue signals along with seperate horizontal and vertiacl sync signals. (http://www.bbdsoft.com/video.html) I looked...

much thanks to SSpear, I deleted a post that bordered on whining because i kept running into dead links for the toolchain. but, upon further inspection i've solved some of my own problems. I'm glad to see loser's toolchain install for win32 (www.xorloser.com) includes the old cygwin dll as the new o...

hello world, I was noticing that theres alot of information out on this processor and what not. Is any of this directly relateable to ps3 dev yet? I was wondering if anyone has started using this abundant information yet, and what sort of test projects they are doing with it. Since this is just star...

exploit questions
I was all ready to start deving and i realized i had mis understood how the exploit works. Just to clarify: A ps2 and an ethernet thingy are not all you need to start. you need some kind of cheat device that lets you write to the memory card from your computer if you want to use the exploit. is this...

yea, I looked up the baud rate for usb on the internet (having no idea what it was) and must have looked up an extreemly erroneous source, and i thought it wouldn't have the band width to do it. of course, it does, even when you realize that the baud rate i suggested would be only for 8 bit audio an...

analog to digital on the PS2
I've been dreaming of an A/D for the ps2, so that programs could take advantage of real time waveforms (oscilloscopes, samplers, dsp, whatever). I thought I'd throw the idea out and see what others know before i dream to much in the vacuum of my head. I'm worried about baud rates if the only access ...

As far as getting the linux kit goes, it is expensive. Also, I think it is silly to have to purchase technical details like that. anyone who can do anything with those documents is either trying to produce something that would make the PS2 a more versitile and useful device (that is helping sony out...

Assembly and architecture
I've not programmed on PS2 before. I would, however be very interested in knowing how the PS2 works on a machine code level. I don't know how much of this Sony lets out (some data sheets would be awesome), but does anyone know if somewhere out there I can find out about the details of the architectu...
