I got mine the hard way. I was in Japan on business trip. Most shops had accepted pre-orders on their allotted units and were already sold-out. Except for the ToysRUs at Kusatsu (a small town by lake Biwa) which had 40 units ready for sale to the first lucky customers on 12/12. So I walked for 2 Hrs...
