Hypothetically, would it be possible to rip out the UMD drive and replace it witha small 5gb flash drive that connectts via the memory stick slot.
It would be a great haven for the emulators and roms. Or in general replacing the UMD drive with anything capable of more flash storage.

Sure you can do all of that. Hypothetically speaking. Nothing will work at all, and nothing will be gained but a busted ps2, but you can do it. And it will look cool.
Hypothetically speaking, when the new PS3 arrives, you can take a cell chip out of the PS3 and place it into the PSP. Just unsolder the old cpu and put the new one in... someplace. Just make it fit as much as possible. It will look cool.
