This is a difficult to believe if I can recall that long ago. Your colleague Hermes wrote an mp3 player for paradox that used madlib. His illegal port wasn't only built with the official sony sdk but he never release the source code.

Let's not dredge all that up again. Whatever is past should remain off the forum here. We just want to concentrate on something new. All code related to this project will be open, so there won't be the same fuss about whether something was proper or not.

Yes and i killed JFK, all code included in mediaplayer has its license included read it and RESPECT it ( sorry for my english but i believe that a intelligent guy as you should understand it very well ) some people here was betatester included some at SCEE. (The license must be bundled with your player if not you are violating some of them)

Hermes is best person that you and as you post was paradox who released that so ask to paradox, please some admin a RANT deleted for this guy if he follows in the same wrong road.

This type of commentaries and attacks have obtained that at this moment, the complete source code of the Mediaplayer, is unavailable.

The resut is:

for much people: they are displeased because of these attacks there are lost the Mediaplayer, MCLoader 2,0...

for developers: I am a damn. I am a thief, etc

for me: I am frustrated and discouraged. I have worked very hard so that other people enjoy my work. For me it is not a problem to release the sources of my applications, but two problems exist:

1) some people are waiting that somebody makes the work hard, to sell the product . They rob your code if it is necessary.

2) some people see your code as 'malignant'.

For example, when i put CDX support in MCLOADER. CDX, UMCDR formats, is ONLY one standard ISO in a CD Audio. So in a standard iso, the datas is writed using 2048 bytes/sector and in CDX/UMCDR the 2048 bytes is writed in a sector of 2352 bytes. Oh my god! i must go to patent this system!.

The comments of certain guys:

- You stole UMCDR: it is FALSE, UMCDR is only one idea, it is not a real protocol.
- You want to use it to release commercial games: stupid commentary
- You do not mention the original creator: FALSE, at start MCLOADER it display a message: I only have used the idea of Drakonite, he do not sent sources to me. I only need to know the CdReadAudio export for this implimentation. Well, i have a lot of experience working with the PS2 DVD... some thinks that I do not know how to read the TOC and to know where begin the different tracks?

- You don´t release this source. The reason is that I made a promise here of not release the source to avoid illegal uses.

I came to these forums with new proposals: a system of detection of errors that I wanted to contrast here to be compatible with all the applications using CDX or UMCDR, but how always, Me applications and me ideas are damn

The same with MCLOADER 2.0. This application have the habilty to emulate the cdrom using one pendrive. Of course: it is NOT compatible with games, really, it is DO NOT possible it work with a commercial games, but some guys say: it is damn. Ok, it is damn

So, i am retired: here is no more mediaplayer or applications on the part of Hermes and I cannot participate normally in these forums...

I do not know to speak in English, but I know how to program. I have more than 20 years programming like hobby... and here you are trying to make a work that I did 3 years ago.

Really, I hope that you obtain your goal, that they do not rob the work to you and that works better than our code. It is a hard work, too many hours working free.

PD: for a long time it has not been a problem that somebody insults to me. So you only obtain Zero applications, Zero source codes. Of course: you are right, you always are within the laws, a good man, one big person and i, i only miserable plasterer of Spain that he is always thinking about making illegalities.

Personally, I think the PS2Reality crew did a great job. Do I think it could be better? Yes, but now I have to try to do better myself. The old saying is "put your money where your mouth is." :)

It would be nice to see source for all sorts of things. I personally would love to see source released for the original Tomb Raider. It would be great to port it to several different platforms. I don't expect that to happen any time soon. Same thing with certain PS2 projects. It would be nice to have the code available, but it's not likely to happen. So what - you deal with it and move on.

It would be great if we didn't have to worry about hackers co-opting code. The sad fact is, hackers will use anything they can. That affects this site in a way as to slow development in certain areas. We can't make utilities that allow you to make backups to pendrives and similar projects. Again, you deal with it and move on. There is PLENTY of things we CAN do, so focus on them and don't let the rest get you down.

Despite all the accusations flying around, bigboss and hermes are still here. Notice that they haven't been banned. Given how strict PS2Dev is about anything related to piracy, this says a lot. So just chill and try to be nice. Insulting programmers isn't the best way to get what you want. You want to see code? Do you really think insults will somehow magically convince them to show it to you? I think by now it's obvious they won't be bullied into releasing code, so let it drop. Be cool and maybe they'll do some more good stuff for the PS2. Be really cool and maybe they'll give you some pointers from their own experience.

To be really honest, I think the greatest thing which is wrong with you is your english... I am 99.99% sure that lots of problems and crap came out with you misunderstanding english, and you having some english terms and phrasing that are misunderstood by others.

Given that, I don't think it's really worth arguing in any way.

The facts have always been in plain view.

you, hermes were once part of paradox.
You created an mp3 player based on GPL code, namely Mad
Someone somehow got the code or elf from you from within paradox
Paradox released the player, with your name on it utilizing Sony's official SDK that you are not entitled to use.
Neither Paradox nor the original coder honored the original Mad license to release source even though you were the coder credited with it's creation.

I stated this prior; I have no concerns over your mediaplayer or UMCDR 'RIP'. I have a problem with the team painting themselves the victims of attacks or saints when you are sinners. I'm very happy people like primetime so selflessly put forth time and effort into the real spirit of dev. His player is much better than yours hermes. Don't waste your fingers typing a rebute to this. I won't respond.

Cogswaploader? If you want, i can send the source code to you. In my country, it is a legal code and it do not crack any protection ( in Spain to load a backup is legal). if you want to think of another form, you are in your right

In other hand, i am working in my audiolib 2.0. It is divided in 3 libs:

- ffmpegavi.a: Reduced version of FFMPEG lib with only support for MP2/MP3. It include some changes from BroadQ

-audiolibmp3.a: This lib is thinking in games. Is one form easy to play MP3, with fast transition from a track MP3 to Other, with ID3 and FF/RW support to do a MP3 player if you want.Really, it is thinking in games or demos

-audiolib.a: This lib is one form easy to work with VAG voices in PS2. It use a advanced system mean interrupts to program one voice and it is ideal for demos or games.

audiolib have support for PCM audio too. It have a system with fast interpolation lineal and it use a intelligent audio stack

The new thing from audiolib 1.0, is CDDA support and asynchronous reading from devices (used from audiolibmp3, for example).

All things is complimented with source code examples. If you want, you can download the binary of one complete CD Audio reproducer (it work from host) here: http://www.ps2reality.net/~hermes/audiolib/cdda.rar

I have one example running Cd Audio tracks and resampling it to MP2 (to host) in real time ;)

My work will be available shortly. if you prefer to ignore it, there is no problem: Bigboss and i can use that to do games for the 'eye' of the PS2.

I can understand why they wish to keep cogswaploader off the site here since they have to be sensitive to US laws (among others), but I don't see a problem with the rest. I look forward to seeing the others, especially the VAG support. That would make it easier to do some nice MOD/MUS/MIDI player programs.
