Will it work?

No.
Why would you want to do this? The PSP is USB 2.0 which is just as fast as Firewire anyway, and if you have a computer with Firewire on, the chances are good that you already have USB 2.0 ports.

Just being a newb who thought that Firewire was faster than USB 2.0.
Thanks for your infinite clarity...

For most data transfer situations it is faster than USB2, but I think his point was why waste money on an adapter when you can just use a simple $3 cable.

The thing was that I paid 10 bucks for the stinkin' cable that was at EB Games made "especially for the PSP." But at Best Buy today I saw a Firewire to USB mini-B for about 10 bucks as well. I just wanted to know if it would work, from a technical aspect.

For $10, something that translates from Firewire to USB ? I am tempted to say it is impossible for anything less than $100, if something like that even exists.
It sounds like its just a cable, and if it is, are you *sure* it is Firewire on one end and USB on the other ? Is that what it actually says on the package ?

That is 4-pin firewire to 6-pin firewire.
The 4-pin is what is often referred to as "iLink".
The difference is that the missing 2 wires carry power that allows one device to snarf from another device.
And moved to off-topic.

My Mini-DV camera uses this cable. I would assume thats what it is mostly for. Firewire > Smaller devices.
