A few questions about downgrading from 1.51
first i upgrade to 2.0 by executing the eboot for 2.0.
Then i run through the steps of the downgrader.
When i open overview.tif on my computer it says its a virus which deletes critical psp files which stops it from booting, called PSPBrick.
I downloaded it from www.psp-hacks.com
http://www.psp-hacks.com/psp-downgrade.php

Is this normal?

Yes it is. Erroneously, even legitimate 2.0 downgraders are flagged as PSP-bricking virii. Proceed, but proceed with caution.

and can you say that the file from that site is, or at least was, safe the last you heard?

I'd say it's probable that it's OK as no PSP site would knowingly host a malicious piece of software but I have little interest in that particular site so I wouldn't stake my life, or indeed my PSP, on it.
