I have developed a new 3D/6-DOF input device that would allow users to input natural sword/bat swings - this is the first low-cost 3Dinput for gaming (retailed at around $50). So far I have developed prototypes on PC - please visit www.affineontech.com for demo videos. Need help to develop interfaces for PS2/Xbox. Anyone interested in developing interfaces /games for it ?

now that's really something. I'd love to make a few applications using that system. But I've got to ask how accurate the position calculations are? I didn't notice a lot of jerky-ness on the videos, but then I was mentally compensating for the video quality.
Are there any motion limitations? is it optical motion detection, or electro-magnetic? can someone move their wand rapidly without suffering from accuracy loss?

A "gesture input" device like this would open up a whole box of new game ideas (think of eyetoy). Bear in mind however that a game is not "made" by the controller; the controller just makes human interaction easier/more natural.
What sort of interface does it currently use (USB, PC joyport, parallel, etc)???
If it has a USB interface then it should not be too difficult to write a USB driver for it for the PS2, if source code for the PC driver is available.
PS2 USB homebrew driver framework is still a bit flaky atm I think.
Once the hardware interface/drivers are sorted, then writing demo/apps will be possible.

Jeez, all I have to say, man, I can imagine playing FPS games on a PS2 and PC without saying "Goddamn joystick" while playing on the PS2 and using that gun, or a lightsaber battle between 2 friends. Oy vey. And by what I could tell it uses motion capture technology, I noticed a camera facing up next to the TV. Still, it's awesome.
