Hi there,
OK, I'm a newbie to the PS2 dev scene but an experienced programmer. I'm just starting with the homebrew ps2 dev. I used the ps2dev_setup.exe (about 30MB) from ps2dev.org to setup my Windows XP SP2 PC for ps2 dev. I have a slimline ps2 (SCPH-70003) with the Action Replay Max.
I'm trying to compile and execute the ps2_tut01 samples from ps2dev.org. I can take the existing demo1.elf file (22KB) included in the zip and run that successfully through the media player part of action replay. I can successfully compile the demo1.c etc. files for the tutorial and produce an elf file but this is 24KB and does not run. The same goes for the hello.c sample.
Any ideas what might be wrong?
Has anybody else had difficulties with the ps2dev_setup?
I believe I have the paths configured correctly and that ps2dev_setup will have installed a reasonably up to date version of the toolchain.
Any suggestions welcome...
Cheers
Andy
Newbie - cant run tutorial 1 sample & ps2dev_setup on Wi
The loader inside the mediaplayer of the Action Replay Max Evo is far from beeing able to load anything. My advice is to load a packed embed version of ps2link inside their loader so that you can run a "better" loader than their own.

But the demo1.elf in the zip works
Thanks for prompt response. Granted, I may need to look at more effective/efficient techniques in the future but I wanted to use this route to confirm my development setup. The demo1.elf that comes in the zip works OK through the media player so my demo1.elf that I have compiled should too. I guess I have a discrepancy with the link libraries but I'm not sure - the different file sizes suggest library changes since the zipped demo1.elf was compiled.
Does anyone know who created these tutorials?
