Running ELF's From CDR

How exactly do I go about doing this? Instead of taking up space on my memory card, HDD, or having to send them through ps2link, how do I burn one or more ELF's to a CDR that ps2menu can read? I would like to create a "library" of all the ELF demos i currently have on 1 disc, and be able to boot them. I read somewhere that i need to write a .cnf file on the disc in notepad. But how exactly do i do this? Please help, thanks.

That question is dangerously close to asking how to play pirated games. The same method for playing a menu of homebrew games off cdr could be used for playing pirated games.

The only anwser you'll probably get is "you need a mod-chip or a set of swap discs" if you wish to run homebrew off a cdr. That's what I do. I also have NapLink and the network hookup as well. All three allow the running of homebrew and demos.

I'd advise not pushing the issue here since this site is geared towards legal development of home brew programs. This is easier with NapLink or the network connection than constantly burning CDRs. It is the recommended method of running homebrew and demos and does not promote piracy.

No im not tryin to play pirated games, i was just wondering how i can burn a collection of ELF's on a disc so i dont have to take up memory card space, HDD space, or have to send them through ps2link. Im assuming there's a certain procedure to do this. I realize that the discussion of "warez" isn't allowed here. Id rather boot an elf off an organized disc than have to browse through my memory card directories to find them. Plus it seems wise to have a "backup archive" of these elf's in case something were to happen. Please understand. My apologies for any misunderstanding. Thanks

Why not just make a disk with launchelf 3.33 and all the apps you want. just point the system.cnf file at launchelf as it has a filebrowser that you can use to launch homebrews.

The only thing wrong with that is it does save its config file to the memory card to remember the paths of apps that are assigned to the individual buttons for launching. I think google should make it fairly easy to find it (launchelf), or links to it should be on ps2-scene.org - just dont let the asian instructions get ya down, once its running it works great.

Or... there is ps2os that can be run from a disk too.

Or, you should be able to burn a cd compilation with a program like Nero, using mode 2/xa that ps2menu can browse to. I personally dont care for ps2menu even though it is quite flexable.

If you don't have a mod chip, you can't.

If you have a modchip, just make a cdr in mode2/xa with the elfs on it and ps2menu should read it just fine. Not everything will run correctly from cdr though, of course there isn't even that much to run from it anyways...

If you dont have a mod chip you can use the swap magic or knife trick like you normally would have to without a mod chip, but true - many wont work off the cdr although having access to them off a single disk at will may be helpful.

Yeah i have been using cogswap to boot homebrew stuff such as the aura for laura demo. I dont know if that program is "allowed" here tho, but if not, sorry. Thanks for your help, but it seems too troublesome to run elfs from a disc. Like you said, they may not even work well.
