I have a PS2 game that I would like to extract the models and the textures. Is there anyway to extract this info from a .bin file using the ps2dev environment? is there any tuts on this? Any help would be greatly appricated. Thanks.

This is why Guest posting is a bad idea. IMO, guest should be able to read, but not post.

mrbrown: Why? People have been asking the same kind of questions and have been registered. This isn't a guest-only problem. Would you answer this question if he wasn't a guest?

Guest: Unless you know the actual format of the file, you won't have much luck extracting information. With a name like bin it could be anything. Also, there's legal problems with extracting data for your own uses - the data belongs to the company who made the game.

Unfortunately, we can't help with either. Sorry.

Depends on the country and the actual use. If it's for personal use, French laws permits it.

That's a good point, actually. :)

The problem is that it makes people feel better/justified/comfortable about asking gray-area legal questions. And no, I wouldn't answer his question if he wasn't a guest, just like I didn't respond to the last guy asking about extracting models and textures (who I believe is this guy, from a diff. IP). Out of all of the registered users we have, it's very rare for someone to post as Guest, and usually it's because they forgot to set the cookie.
