I recall that Sony is able to reprogram the EEproms (thats what the repair depot was doing with the faulty V4's that had poor lasers with the B type, and sending back V4's with an R/open faced laser instead)

Some spanish guys made a lens changer app/irx, look on www.ps2-scene.org , you should find some info there, although I dont know if it works right, it is used with the ethernet adapter and ps2link.

Could be that this type of thing is out of bounds here...

i know the lenschanger solution but you have to have a network adapter and a modchip, but i haven't both. I'm searching for a method by cable to pc or reading the eprom in a external programmer

thanks

ps2link works over the naplink/usb pl controlled cable too.

Raizor, I love how specific ppl can be when they say stuff like that, I told him there is a solution out there, and described my experience with sonys repair depot, and even provided a link to nudge him elsewhere since I am no moderator - if thats ignorance then ignorance is truly bliss :)

This isn't dev related. Well, its hardware hacking yes, but its more along the lines of Ps2 repair.

knowledge of mainboard circuitry is mostly in the domain of the modchippers, especially for repairish type things. I suggest looking in like-minded forums.
