Demo swap trick don't work! Help!

I have tried the demo ps2 swap trick that i found on this page, but it doesn't work! I have done exacly as thay have said, and i got v7 of the PS2, but it doesn't want to work! I have tried around 100eds of times, pleas help me! Is it possible to do the swap trick whith the "Action Replay sampler (demo)" that comes whith some PS2 magazines? Do i need to have one of the games that the cheat is for, or is it just to swap and start (whithout putting another original cd in the PS2)?
