My PS2 lens is dead! cant read a damn thing! can I still install softwares like SMS or Mediaplayer! and install music in my HDD

if you have a mod and at least something like launchelf, ps2link or similar apps in the memory card/hd (and your mod support direct loading from there) yes

my lens was stuffed just a few months ago and i got it fixed at my locla games store for $50. he cleaned that crap and dust out of it and redid the laser.
