JPEG, AVI, etc?
Harro. Im rather glad I found this site, I hope I can find the answers Im looking for. :D Basically Im at a residential vocational school near the border of Canada, ie nowhere. My lovely girlfriend, now 8 hours away due to my relocation, is trying to send me some media to keep me warm at night, harr. My options are via PS2 and GBA.. and while the GBA option is already clear to me, PS2 sounds to be a more enjoyable measure, if possible.
So my question is! How would I go about transferring movie files generated by a digital camera (im assuming AVIDs) or JPEGs from the same source, to a CD.. that can be read by the PS2? If not JPEGs then the AVIDs. If I need to get ahold of a HDD I suppose its feasible, and that would be fine too. However, Im really aiming for just burning some junk to a CD and enjoying some hot goodness. Assuming I can get this done, I promise Ill share! Harr!! 'IS HE JOKING?'
 :D

Warning: I don't know what I'm talking about here.
If you have a DVD burner and some kind of video editing software, it seems to me like you could write a DVD-R or DVD+R, and play that on the PS2, just like any other DVD. I don't know if the PS2 has any problems reading these, I don't have a DVD burner.
Just a thought.

HAHAHAHAHA!! Good one, mrbrown.
I make homemade DVDs on DVD-Rs all the time. They play fine on my 30K1 (v5) PS2. I also have the remote with the latest DVD player. Older PS2s may have problems playing DVD-Rs. Support for DVD-R was added in v4 or v5 if I remember correctly.
Use a good quality DVD-R. I like RiTech RiData G04s or ProDisc 4X DVD-Rs. Both work fine on my PS2 when written at 4X. I haven't had the chance to try 8X or DVD+R yet.

Thanks for the advice, err, is there any way to go about burning these without having to puchase a DVD-R? One of my friends friends supposedly did that, however I am not sure how accurate this information is. Honestly, I would just spend a bunch of time looking for this information online, but I have limited time to do so under my given circumstances. If anyone has done this, or even better, knows of a URL explaining this method, please share, eh?
Likewise with any other ideas that may come to mind.
Thankah much folkses. :D

A Super Multi Writer will cost you $60 to $90 and burns DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, CDR, and CDRW. I just got the NEC ND-2510A. In addition to writing the above formats (in up to 8X speed), it also writes dual-layer. It was $72 at NewEgg.
I suppose you can burn DVD content onto CDRs. They usually call that CDVD. However, due to the tiny size of CDs (relatively speaking), you can only fit a few minutes onto them.
Dunno, just heard one of my buddies friends was writing DVDs before DVD-R was out. Perhaps its been out, and it just wasnt common, so my computer illiterate friend was merely confused. I also thought I happened across a site that was going to explain this method, but I put it into favorites and never went back, and since then have lost and forgotten the name of the site.
All bullshit aside though, buying a DVD-R sounds like a good thing. Praps Ill just save up some cash and have her buy one. Ill just steal it from her when I get outta here. Thats almost as soon as.. *checks the calendar* never, just around the corner. :)
Arr and whats this about Eyetoy and whatnot? A webcam designed for the PS2? Im afraid I wouldnt have access to any RJ-11/45 jacks in my room, or anywhere privately accessible to me.
Thanks for the advice folks! Ill hollar when Ive struck gold.
