Having Problems with the Independence Memory Card Exploit

I have been messing around with the memory card exploit, and have succeeded with it.I am using a PS1 disc at the moment, and then started to realize is it possible to use a PS2 disc to trigger the exploit.I was wondering is it possible to use a PS2 game or GameShark2V2 to trigger the exploit.I know this might sound like a stupid question, but I wouldn't mind running the exploit off of something I don't use.I had another problem with the exploit which was getting the cdloaderV7_beta5.2 to boot from the memory card also.I know I am asking alot of questions, but this place seems to be the source of great memory card exploits.Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I believe the memory card exploit relies entirely on a vulnerability in the PS1 driver code. If you use a PS2 disk, the PS1 driver will not be loaded, thus it would not be possible to activate the exploit that way.

Such a vector via PS2 disc may be theoretically possible if some other vulnerability exists, but no one has reported any publicly (and I haven't heard of any privately for that matter, but I would be far from the first to hear of it).

I know nothing about cdloader.

Are you using a chipped machine? If I boot my Messiah modded machine with a pre-burnt PS2LINK cd etc it works also.

I guess this is due to the chip patching bios and forcing PS1 Mode regardless of disc :)

I am a fliptop user using the swap magic discs, and the cdloader is very usefull to me.I guess this issue hasn't been brought up yet with the cdloader, the cogswaploader works. The only problem for me is that I am running a V7 PS2,and it does the double checks when it reads discs.I guess I am gonna have to wait to see what happens next.I am sure there is somebody willing to look further into this, and can probably make it run using the PS2 driver.I think I am just gonna be patient or the harddrive is not a bad invest right.I could try that way,and maybe that could fix most of my problems I am having with swap magic.

If you have it working with a PS1 disk, whats the hold up?
You say you want to run it off something you don't use... I use an old ps2 game that i regret buying, but if you don't have one of them, its easy enough to find a real old one going cheap (2nd hand) at EB or ebay for sure...

Sorry if i'm reading into this wrong, in which case, my bad.. i misunderstood the question...

You can use a PS2 game cheriff what game is it.I am trying to get a PS2 game or something similiar to it that I have to boot the exploit, but the PS2Menu only uses the PS1 drivers. The main reason I am trying to figure this out, because my PS2 dvd drive actual sounds like it is not gonna last a long time.I was gonna use dvd instead of cd,because it is having a hard time reading cd discs.I can hear it making loud noises, and the PS2 is kinda loud which tells me that it isn't a good sign.It only does this when I mess wtih cd discs.I haven't had any problems with it besides the PS2 having a hard time reading cd discs, other than that everything works perfectly.

ahh, crap. I didn't notice my typo..., '1' and '2' are too close on the keyboard!

No, i use a ps1 (one!) game i shoudlnt have bought.,
my mistake,, sorry =(

no ps2 disk, will work, since the exploit exploits (!) a flaw in the ps1 driver code, the only way to get to that is with a ps1 disk.

Im not sure my drive is any louder than a ps2 disk, im not home to check but in any case, its only read long enough to read the disk id.. then the exploit takes over and the cd isn't touched.. if it doesnt spin down, you should be able to eject it and run totally off the mc...

might be worth a shot just cleaning the disk?
Ages ago my ps1's laser died (or got miscalibrated) and i just rang sony and they told me where to take it and they fixed it... Although it was under warranty at the time..
