My computer doesnt have a serial port. Is there a serial to parallel converter (PC= parallel and ps2 serial)? If so, would let me be able to use all the functions of the ps2 serial cable like normal? Thanks

Better use a Serial->USB converter, for example, http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/usb_serial.htm (found using "usb rs232" on google)

This is exactly what I do for my PS2 serial mod.

Although, both MAX and TI have RS232->USB chips. One could make a variant on the PS2 serial mod circuit that goes directly to a USB port. Something I have considered doing.

This is the the cable that is soldered ditrectly to the PS2? I'll look at using the FX2 USB development kit to make it connect to the PC through USB. The problem is I don't know about developing drivers (my projects have conformed to standard USB classes so far).

bah, the FX2 is overkill. In this case, an off the shelf, electronics store USB to RS232 part is the way to go. If it was somthing weird that wasn't rs232 compatable, then it'd be fun to make an interface.
