New homebrew release: Chinese Flashcards

Post by milksop »

Hi

I just released a simple PSP Chinese flashcard program (intended for English people to learn how to read Chinese characters). You can download it from http://h4ck3r.net/pspflash1.zip.

The source code is included. There's probably nothing too exciting in there, but it includes a crappy little library for doing various things (simple drawing, files), mersenne twister random number generator, zlib decompression, working "home" button, a font other than that icky one that everyone is using, and a simple wrapper that works in windows under MSVC. (In case you're looking for any of those things).

Hm, I just tried deleting everything off my memstick, and recopying the two folders from the zip re-downloaded off the webpage.

Of course there's the usual one folder that comes up as corrupted data (because of the "KXploit"), but the other "real" one shows up for me.

If someone else could check it, I would appreciate it.

thanks

Hi Milksop :)

your eboot was buggered so i used PSPBrew (awesome app) to convert the eboot to v1.00 compatible.

Downloads (fixed version) and screens here --> http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/chineseflashcards.shtml

Hmm, ok thanks.

So it only didn't work on 1.0? Or did it not work for you on 1.5 either? I'll probably release a new version shortly so I'd like to make sure it works on both.

Request for Japanese

Post by hanadave »

Scott,

This is exactly what I have been looking for except that its for Chinese. Do you have any plans to make one of these of Intermediate to Advanced Japanese Kanji?

Sorry, no. I don't know anything about Japanese. The code's all included in the release though if you or someone else wants to make a version that does Japanese.

Hi

I just released version 2 of the Chinese Flashcards program.

Changes:
- settings file to save settings
- sound effects
- ability to speak the entry
- more entries added (all of volume I of the textbook I'm using)
- a few bug fixes

You can get zips of: binary with audio, the binary without audio (smaller), and source at http://h4ck3r.net/

Release 3

Post by milksop »

Release 3 is available at http://h4ck3r.net/

Changes:
- Audio is non-blocking so you don't have to wait for various sounds to finish
- audio data is compressed on the memory stick (4meg now instead of 11meg)
- settin
- "Corrupted Data" avoided so it doesn't show up in PSP launcher with KXploit.

Neat. :) I'm thinking for the Japanese version of this, we should make one that uses Japanese RPGs to train gamers to learn Japanese RPG speak. :D
