Oehm, some stuff that came to my mind:

- ability to copy and rename ALL stuff, folders and files (no matter what extension)
- virtual keyboard for renaming, and not just the alphabet, all kinda stuff like -, _, % and so on...

Keep up the good word

You should be able to rename anything in the current version. Try marking a folder and then pressing X on the marked folder.

For extra symbols try pressing the shoulder buttons. I'm definitely gonna add a virtual keyboard soon as the current text entry system is totally lame!

ahhh thx, no renaming and stuff works as I wanted it to ^^

One more idea...........I would love to see the feature added, to hide the corrupted data stuff. That would be VERY usefull..............for me, and hopefully for others too. Because I copy new apps unhidden on my psp first, to chek 'em out. I do not hide them first, because some do not work properly then. If the apps cool, I'll leave it on my psp and try it with hidden corrupted data.

That was a bad explanation, and I'm Cubeikon, the German ^^

love your filemanager

Really looking forward to slideshow option, and one other feature, toggle between icons on off. It's a little annoying when the icons and text are over the image you are looking at. And a "next/previous" image button, make the L/R function as it does in the original picture viewer :)

Oh yes there is...well almost... :)
Simply mark the images you wish to display, then select view from the options menu.
You can then cycle through the images using the shoulder buttons.

Hope that helps,

Hi,

nice work with the new version! But I guess, theres a litte missunderstanding here ^^ What I wanted to say with "hide corrupted data" was not, to hide the Folders with the % in the fileassistant.

My point was, to make it possible, to hide the corrupted data within the fileassistant, so they are not noticeable in the PSP Menu. Its just, that the fileassistant would be able to rename the folders like that:

'File Assistant'
'File Assistant%'

become

'FILEASSISTANT 1'
'FILEAS~1%'

At the moment its only possible to rename the folders like that, on the computer (seipsptool or others), and I would love to see it on your fileasisstant++
Sorry for my bad explanations, hope you got it now :D

Heh - no problem :)
I'm pretty sure that the 1.5 build does have folders already named like

FileAs_________________________1
FileAs~1%

So the folder should already be hidden?
Maybe this is different on different versions of PSPs?
Unfortunately I only have my PSP (v1.5) to test this stuff on, but would be very interested to hear from other users on this issue.

Thanks,

I think mu explenations are already too bad, maybe some enlishnative-speaking-users could help me get 71M to get on the right path ^^ ?

I want that your fileassistant can select the 2 folders of ANY Application....

for example

SNESEMU
SNESEMU%

or

PSPACMAN
PSPACMAN%

and that your fileexplorer renames them, so the corrupted data are hidden in the psp menu. The renaming has to look like I already postet:
'File Assistant'
'File Assistant%'

becomes

'FILEASSISTANT 1'
'FILEAS~1%'

Because atm you need a computer to do this, and as I said, it would be nice to do this with just my psp. (And no, PSPs mit any firmware do not automatically rename the folders, so the corrupted data are hidden. You still need a computer and tools like psbrew, seipsptool or others to do that. Thats why I'm asking to add it to your fileassistant++)

missing file?

Post by firetown »

what is this file that the program keeps looking for when i start it up now, i doesn't interupt the program at all but it says the file can't be found and to press triangle to continue.

also please explain how exactly the files are meant to be laid out so i can run my executables on my 1.5 psp from this application.

ps: great work

Not sure if this has been requested.

Post by nightwinn »

I understand that someone else wrote a program called ftpd that lets the psp be a wireless ftp server. The problem I had with that program was that I could never give the psp a static ip address, which was required. I was wondering if you would consider adding ftp support into your program, but not requiring a static ip address. The other idea is that you could also make a client addon that allows two psps to exchange files through ftp. Just an idea. Also, thanks for writing such a great and usefull application.

Cubeikon:
Doh! Completely misunderstood your request :)
I'll try and add that feature, but I don't think it'll be too high on my TODO list.

firetown:
Can you tell me exactly what the message is saying? It sounds like a file is missing from your skins folder?

nightwinn:
Indeed there are quite a few FTP programs out there for the PSP. We're definitely going to be adding this support in the not too distant future. Watch this space! :)

also while trying to run eboots i get this:
assert: 0, sceIoGetstat failed! - line: 769 file: CFileSystem.cpp
press triange to continue

if it helps i installed the 1.5 version from the zip, rather than using an excploit on the 1.0

Hi firetown,
It sounds like you've got some corruption going off on your MS.
Try copying Data/Config.xml across to your MS again to see if that fixes your problems.
The second problem is also related to your Config.xml file, it basically can't get access to the file.

Hope that helps,

thanks for answering that, also you were right about the config file i replaced it and everything works fine now.

even got my eboot running.

71M just so you know i think you one step away from making this technically a shell and that is UMD support (by that i mean boot support)

just a quick few things to say:
-i think the osx skin is missing the changes he did to the border
-is there any way to still change which months background is used (pressing start use to do it)
-is it possible to use the osx icons with the default layout.

firetown

ps: this is the most used app on my psp now (savbes all the pc hassle)

Great news, I'm glad that's all working for you now :)

Shazz is working on the executable side of things, and I'm pretty sure that we can now boot UMDs, but don't quote me on that!

OSX Skin:
I'll check this.

Background:
Sorry, I needed the start button :) It will still change color along with the month.

OSX Layout:
Yup, simply copy skin.xml from Skins/Default to your OSX folder.

Hope that solves a few more issues for you.

Hey there guys!
I've fixed a couple of bugs that were causing crashs in FileAssistant and added a couple of quick features.
  • [!] Fixed crash when exiting from image viewing.
[+] Version number displayed on HUD.
[+] File size is displayed in the directory list.
[~] Font and background textures are uploaded to VRAM for speed.
[-] Removed dodgy paste into OSX skin.xml
Grab the latest version from www.easy-monkey.co.uk/FileAssistant-2005-08-31.rar

I'm going to be moving flat over the next week, so I'll be out of action for a while :(
Hopefully I'll be able to get another update out in about a weeks time or so...

Awesome, thanks ...

It crashed when I tried to read a text file though ... Or at least, it just didn't work.

Also, in the keyboard while renaming a file, I pressed the right shoulder button and got a serious Guru Meditation:

Bus error (data)
08910A8C
0000001C
20008603
28AC0490

By the way, why does everyone say you have to flip the battery when you have a serious crash? Just holding the power button up for a while always works for me.

Just put p-sprint in there already :P

EDIT: By the way, nice credits screen! :)

EDIT: xml view doesn't work either, same behaviour as text viewer - no screen comes up. Also tested the SWF viewer, and that works. :) Not too great, but still, nice ...
