Wifi fun and games

Post by monkeymagic »

Sorry if I'm being dumb here, I was wondering whether anyone has managed to get Wireless discovery working. I've seen some samples that check to see if Wifi is turned on, but nothing actually using SceWlan functions.

Not AFAIK.
If you mean scanning for access points (ala Wardriving) then look at the "sceNetApctlScan" function.
I haven't used it myself, but it is used in the netconfig modules.

However it may not be much better than hitting the "Scan" button in the Network setup (ie. you still need to type in a WEP and other settings).

"sceWlan" functions provide other lower level access.

The adhoc network is definately limited to 3 channels (to avoid overlap) but it can log on to any access point on any channel.

If you own a US PSP 1001 it will only scan up to channel 11 to look for an access point. I noticed this when I had my wifi access point configured to listen on channel 13. The reason for this is explained here.
