PMP Mod v2.02 & PMP Mod AVC v1.02
I noticed with the AVC muxer it doesnt like it if there is a space in the output file name e.g.
pmp_muxer_avc -v out.264 -a fg1.mp3 -o family guy.pmp
but
pmp_muxer_avc -v out.264 -a fg1.mp3 -o familyguy.pmp
works perfectly. I know the xvid version didnt have this problem, may be something to look @.
Otherwise working fine Jonny again great job everyone whos had a hand in this

So far it's buggy and it doesn't output files,so we're on the wait for something to be released.Itaintrite wrote:Easiest way would be to use XViD4PSP to convert.DocMAX wrote:how can i convert an xvid movie .avi file into a .264 file? when i try to convert with x264.exe it says unsupported input format (xvid)
first, my english is poor. I hope u can understand what i want to say.
I tryed to make a PMPAVC from DVD, useing a dvdrip software and choice the H264 coder. Here is the setup:
http://www.cngba.com/attachments/month_ ... FTxyIv.png
then I use mencoder to split this avi to pure vedio and pure audio, save as .264 and .mp3.
at last, I use pmp_muxer_avc_tk.exe to muxer and it succeed, but when i played it in PSP, it shows"avc_get: sceMpegAvcDecode failed".
can u help me?

you need to recompile x264 vfw interface with magiK's patch and the little vfw patch (standard x264 will not work)I tryed to make a PMPAVC from DVD, useing a dvdrip software and choice the H264 coder. Here is the setup:

there are a patched release I have made

Here is a little AVC encode that i did.
I now understand why AVC is amazing; so incredibly smooth!
Check for yourself. video: 1500Kbps / Audio 192Kbps.
I think the result is AMAZING!
http://videoff7.free.fr/FF13-E3_AVC.pmp
I kow have learned how to use Avisynth too ;)
2 tips for avisynth, when you want to use a source MPG2, get Nic's MPEGDecoder and load it this way :
LoadPlugin("c:\program files\avisynth 2.5\plugins\MPEGDecoder.dll")
MPEGSource("test.vob")
It gives much faster result than Directshowsource.
Also, you can use Avisynth to crop:
Crop(0,58,0,-58)
This must be on the line directly after the source, before "lanczosresize(480, 272)"
In this exemple, it will remove 58 pixel from the top and bottom of the picture.
Well that's it for now. Check my AVC PMP and let me know what you think!

Wow, this blew my mind. I have that trailer in standard 368x208 for some time now, but your encode is simply stunning. Perhaps a tad more saturation to bring out the colours (using Tweak in avs, for example). Where did you get that source material? I only know of the Gametrailers.com HD trailer, but that video is littered with flash-photography because it was filmed on location.Alcahest wrote:Here is a little AVC encode that i did.

I've also tested several classic high-motion scenes (Matrix Lobby shoot-out, Crouching Fighter Hidden Dragon girl fight) and have noticed that raising kbps to 1000 and above does make a difference. For anime, the standard 512 seems sufficient (I tested it on Samurai Champloo).
And PS: again, congrats on the achievement, jonny and magiK. You rule!
Today i tried again.
I ripped a dvd chapter into avi with h264 coder.
Then I split this avi to pure vedio and pure audio, save as .264 and .mp3.
At last, I use pmp_muxer_avc_tk.exe to mux and it succeed. Also can play in my PSP.
But another problem happened, the avi can play well in PC. The lengths of both .264 and .mp3 are 01:48, when they played single, there's no problem.
After I mux them, the PMP has a litter problem. The audio become longer, at first it fit, but when time goes by, the audio can't keep up with the vedio.
This PMP can play in my psp, but the audio can't keep up with the vedio. The .mp3 is as long as the .264, the .mp3 is 44100Hz, it's right.
Who can tell me how it happened.

AAC/MP3 performance questions....
Hye Jonny,
I've got som technicals questions related to the audio stream...
You explained perfectly that the PSP have some AVC optimization...
So... is there a same optimization for audio streams... ?
Actually natively the PSP can read AAC & MP3 right ?
If yes, is it hard to implement AAC on your PMP MOD ?
Also, I wanted to know with the great performance of the AVC release (fps speaking) if you unlock the 44,1 Khz limitation of the mp3 stream and instead you got a 48 Khz audio stream (a classic Xvid/Divx mp3 audio stream - without re-encoding), are the performance drops a lot.... ?
If not, do you think to add soon this feature ? ;)
Ciao.
csuper.

Hey Alcahest, would you mind recoding your FFXIII video with Tweak(sat=1.4) (or any value you prefer)? Well, thanks for sharing anyways. Stuff like this softens the 600$ PS3 hammerblow, hehe.
Therock003, are you sure you used alcahest's video? Because the SceMpegAVCDecode error occurs when I try to run a transcode of the GameTrailers E3 FFXIII trailer (which seems to have some sort of broken frame in the beginning, it also crashed in the PSP's standard AVC player).
Did the video start and then crash or didn't it start altogether?
Oh, and last night, I did some more encodes. Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (last hour: Battle of Helm's Deep) and the first 5 chapters of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. I used 768 kbps and the results are astonishing. I had some trouble with FF:SW, because it was a telecined NTSC disc (real fps was 24). After a lot of fiddling, I simply adjusted the rate-scale in jonny's muxer to 24-1 (instead of the outlined 8000000-333667). Decimate() produced unwanted choppiness.
