Default Settings

Post by Tsukasa »

Hi,

Many of you know (everybody? =) that the option "Restore default settings" let your PSP resotre alle the flash1 settings.
BUT:

Where do the PSP get the information for the default settings?
For example the japanese PSP sets the Tokio Time Zone as the default time Zone. The european one sets Brussels as the default time zone. As well as the language.

Where do the psp store that information and is it possible to change/patch that?

BTW: The default button assignment is as well somewhere stored.. :/

Thanks in advance ^^"

i think that kind of info is stored in the idstorage area of the flash...and yeah its encrypted/signed so you can not change it.

Code: Select all

IdStorage key 0x045 : [?]
00D4400-03 [PSP-1000] * 00 [PSP-1001], 02 [PSP-1006]
00D4401-000100...00

Code: Select all

IdStorage key 0x050 : Serial No.
00D4200-xx...xx * 30...30 [new ver psp]
00D421E-01 * 02 [new ver psp]
00D421F-03 [PSP-1000] * 04 [PSP-1001], 0A [PSP-1006]
It seems to me that this is, wehere the PSP get the default information, when you restore the default settings - and it doesn't seems encrypted to me ^^".

So is it possible to change a byte in the idtorage without getting a brick? Or did Sony use just another checksum to prevent this.. like everytime :D
