Installing SDL?

Post by Leo28C »

Hello everyone! :D

I downloaded the SDL port for PSP... I read the file named "README.PSP" and did what it told me:

./autogen.sh
LDFLAGS="-L$(psp-config --pspsdk-path)/lib -lc -lpspuser" \
./configure --host psp --prefix=$(psp-config --psp-prefix)
However that last command, after doing a lot of stuff, it gave me an error... These are the last 2 lines:
configure: creating ./config.status
config.status: error: cannot find input file: Makefile.in
I tried to ignore it and proceed to 'make' but it said there was no makefile... Do I have to get this elsewhere or what? Thanks very much! ;)

(PS: Is there any way to copy/paste on the Cygwin shell? Hand typing all the crap's starting to annoy me... :-/)

Makefile.in is created by autogen.sh. That step must have failed with some error.
Is there any way to copy/paste on the Cygwin shell?

Hmmm... It did give a lot of warnings, but I'm not that experienced so I don't understand them... :P Can you help me figure it out?

Here's the output for both commands:

$ ./autogen.sh

Looks like an incompatibility with automake 1.10... remove that and use automake 1.9 for now, I'll try to figure the problem out later.

Hey! I got something here! :P

I installed automake like you said... When I tried to check the version with the '-v' argument, it seems like it ignored it because it's not the correct parameter...

So it tried to do its thing in the SDL folder:

Run "automake --version"; it looks like you're still runnimg 1.10

Assuming you do have automake 1.9 installed.

Code: Select all

WANT_AUTOMAKE=1.9 ./autogen.sh
LDFLAGS="-L$(psp-config --pspsdk-path)/lib -lc -lpspuser" \
./configure --host psp --prefix=$(psp-config --psp-prefix)
make
make install

It still doesn't work... :-/

I do have 1.9 now though:
Leo Cabrera@RITA ~/sdl
$ automake --version

automake (GNU automake) 1.9b

and Alexandre Duret-Lutz <adl@gnu.org>.

I noticed that autogen now gives less errors:
Leo Cabrera@RITA ~/sdl
$ WANT_AUTOMAKE=1.9 ./autogen.sh

Generating build information using aclocal, automake and autoconf
This may take a while ...
acinclude.m4:363: the serial number must appear before any macro definition

Makefile.am:88: use `install-data-hook' or `install-exec-hook', not `install-hoo
k'
Now you are ready to run ./configure

Know what's wrong? I didn't use WinZip or anything that could screw up... :-( Thanks very much!

Do all the steps I listed.

After that do you still get the 'cannot find input file: Makefile.in' error?

Yes - I copied and pasted everything to the command line and still the same error... :-?

I even tried doing everything in ~/psptoolchain, but still the same damn error! :'(

Note that I delete and re-download the SDL lib after each try...

The errors didn't yield anything?

Thanks... I can't figure it out... :-/

[edit] Erm... You do know I'm on Windows/Cygwin, right? :-P Maybe that has something to do with it? [/edit]

[edit] And, do I need to have anything installed previously, like zlib or libpng or anything? [/edit]

I had this same problem on gentoo linux. The below fixed the problem, thanks.
Assuming you do have automake 1.9 installed.

Code: Select all

WANT_AUTOMAKE=1.9 ./autogen.sh
LDFLAGS="-L$(psp-config --pspsdk-path)/lib -lc -lpspuser" \
./configure --host psp --prefix=$(psp-config --psp-prefix)
make
make install
[/code]

Kubuntu Gutsy Tribe3+

I ran into this exact same problem with Kubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy - Tribe 3, fully patched).

In case anyone else is having the same problem: The only solution that worked was to fully de-install the automake 1.10 package (called 'automake'). You can do this without affecting any other packages (and re-install it after you finish building SDL).

Simply using WANT_AUTOMAKE=1.9 is *NOT* enough to make it work on the lates (K)ubuntu builds. You *MUST* remove automake 1.10. Using the WANT_AUTOMAKE override will change the symptoms, but configure will not succeed.

Or just edit the autogen scripts to implicitly use the 1.9 version.
