Help with Video Overlay please

Post by dbarrade »

Hi,

I've messed around with Sakya's excellent OldSkoolLib Mod, and am now confident enough to start my own project, thanks Sakya, thanks also for the PSPSDK and the various tutorials to get it working, it takes a bit of effort, but is well worth the rewards!

My project (Guitarismo) will be something that works similar to SingStar, so I need to be able to play back video and then overlay text and simple graphics like the bars used in SingStar.

I will be encoding the video, (I will be recording my own guitar lessons) so I want to use whatever is going to be easiest to code with.

I need to be able to sync the overlay to another time source (MIDI file) which will provide the application with information on what needs to be overlayed; when and where to do it.

I would like to be able to decrease the speed of the video playback if possible.

I think IWN's PSPTube may have similar functionality, or maybe PSP PMP, so I'm asking for advice about the best starting point and what are the catches for young players?

I will credit any contributors and when it's polished I will release full source code back to the community.

Thanks in advance,
dbarrade
