Value of the Serial[30] and motherboards

Post by pspflashsystem »

Hello everyone,
It's me again but now, I want also to know what is the value of the Serial[30] in the idstorage for motherboards TA-85, TA-85 v2, TA-88...
Besides, I know that 0x01 is the value of the Serial[30] of TA-79/081 and 0x02 is the value of the Serial[30] of TA-82/086.

Thanks to everyone who help me :)

What moonlight is trying to say is that the value of those keys are unknown(I hope). Is there a reason you need to know about the serial value?

The OP needs to specify which key he means... "serial" is not a valid index. Idstorage keys go from 0x0004 to 0x0140 with some gaps.

Ah that's ok ^^. The serial number is located in the key 0×050. To know motherboard model of the psp, we must see byte 30 (= Serial[30]) of this key

Okay... I think you meant BYTE 30 though. :)

Here's the first 96 bytes of key 0x50 for the 2001IS.
30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 03 04

00 03 00 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 01 01 01

01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
So you can see moonlight was correct - serial[30] is 3.

EDIT: Here's the same bytes from a 2004IS... note the minor difference.
30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 03 05

00 03 00 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 01 01 01

01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

yes thank you very much JF ^^ the minor difference is 04 for one and 05 for other :). So 0x03 maybe means that psp have a TA-085. But what's the value of the byte 30 of TA-085 v2 (0x0x?), TA-088... ?

It is a produt code.

01 -> TA79-TA81
02 -> TA82-TA86
03 -> all psp 2000, no matter which motherboard

If you meant the other byte which is next to it, that's the region code:

03 -> japan
04 -> america
05 ->europe (there are lot more of regions but those are the typical).

So, moonlight, does the recovery menu do the same? Write to the idstorage to change the region?

I'm not moonlight, but I can answer that question.

HELL NO! Writing to flash just to change the region would be stupid. The firmware most likely hooks a function that the vsh uses to determine the region and fakes it that way.

But when faking the region, does it really give its full affect to run umd games maybe from other regions?

That's ok :)
But how pspident can do to know what's the motherboard of the PSP (> TA-085) ? (are there others keys for it?)

Yeah - Games are region free anyway ;)

nope. At the moment only video umd's are using region things, and the fake region cannot make umd videos of one region to work on other.
Now, however, I know how to do that.
