What if we made a "hacker firmware" 1.53?

Post by AuDioFreaK39 »

The plan I think we should go with is to trick the firmware into upgrading to a "hacker firmware", like a 1.53 (because 1.53 is greater than 1.52), but I think we would still need to be able to crack the checksums in order for it to authenticate the 1.53.

So you are sure 1.53 is greater than 1.52?

Here's how I put it.

When the 1.52 update came out and a person with a 1.51 or lower PSP got to the installation of the update, the PSP recognized 1.52 as a newer firmware (hence the name 1.52). So if someone ever comes out with a hacked firmware that gets past the md5 checksums and names it 1.53, then the PSP might recognize it as a newer update that needs to be installed.
