Hi, I'm EXTREMELY new to the PsP developers world... infact I don't even know how to do anything, lol.
What I was wondering, was if one of you Developer Geniuses :D, could tell me if this was plausible:
Is it possible to recode the file putty.exe to work on the PsP?
Incase some of you don't know what it is (doubtful), it's a program that you can use to remote-access into a Linux Shell from a Windows system.
In all honesty, I am looking at possibly using my PsP as my 'laptop'. I already am tentatively using it for webmail when I'm not at home, checking websites/etc, and once the keyboard comes out, will look at instant-messenging programs. All that's left is for me to have a way to remotely control/check some game servers that I host, and it would be VERY cool if I could do this from my PsP (that and save me several hundred~close to a grand on a laptop :P).
Thanks, and I hope someone can help me :).
p.s. If need be I can post a link to the file in question.. not sure what the forum rules are, so I won't unless I'm asked.
Question on porting program for PsP use...
Re: Question on porting program for PsP use...
It will definitely be possible, once the final details of internet have been sussed out (which seems to be pretty soon considering what's happening now).ewil1337 wrote:All that's left is for me to have a way to remotely control/check some game servers that I host, and it would be VERY cool if I could do this from my PsP (that and save me several hundred~close to a grand on a laptop :P).
As for the keyboard, I've developed p-sprint which really does work quite well. I've tested my typing speed with it and I'm already close to 40WPM at times.
I saw your keyboard thingie already Arwin.. and honestly, it boggled the hell out of my brain when I saw it (~_~). LoL, I might consider swapping to it, but I'm actually not half bad with the built-in keyboard it has (though I WILL definately be getting the keyboard itself when it comes out).
Ya, I have a wish to control/access a Linux based Game Hosting server while I'm on the road from my PsP.
This is a place that hosts various versions of putty - http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgta ... nload.html
Just found this link... lmfao they have it for a frickin nokia o_o - http://s2putty.sourceforge.net/
I don't know (or haven't figured out yet) what the OS is for the PsP, so I don't even know where to start on decoding a current version of putty, and/or converting it over to PsP design :S.
If someone is going to (not asking, just saying) make a PsP version of putty, please let me know, I can help test it (I use it everyday, so I know how it should/shouldn't work).
Any and all information would help :). Thanks so far guys, you guys are geniuses compared to me :S.

Yeah, I guess I really have to make a typing tutor for it, not everyone seems to be picking it up as easily as I did myself. :pewil1337 wrote:I saw your keyboard thingie already Arwin.. and honestly, it boggled the hell out of my brain when I saw it (~_~). Generally if it has been ported to anything linuxy, it's usually pretty easy to port to the PSP. The only thing that currently seems to be missing is the code on how to do proper http and sockets stuff in infrastructure mode over the www, but I'm assuming that'll appear in the SDK soon now (can't wait, really).I don't know (or haven't figured out yet) what the OS is for the PsP, so I don't even know where to start on decoding a current version of putty, and/or converting it over to PsP design :S.
You should start of course with looking at the SDK in svn://svn.ps2dev.org for the psp, and go take a look at the pspdev wiki that's out there. There's a link somewhere here in the forums, if you search for wiki it's bound to turn up.If someone is going to (not asking, just saying) make a PsP version of putty, please let me know, I can help test it (I use it everyday, so I know how it should/shouldn't work).
