kexploit and PSP Toolchain on MacOS X, Linux, BSD, etc... ?

Post by slainer68 »

Hi!

I've downloaded some homebrew applications that don't come ready for 1.50 firmware (kxploit). The problem (is that a problem?) is that I'm running MacOS X. I've read some FAQs about kxploit and they are all about running .EXE, blahblahblah. But there are also other operating systems. What can I do if I've got just the eboot file in order to run it on my 1.50 PSP using MacOS X or another Unix system ?

Also, I'm interested into developing small homebrew apps on my PSP. So I've looked the PS2dev site and I have found PSP toolchain. It seems to be the easiest way to setup a psp developing environment... Is that script will work on MacOS X (I've got XCode installed) ?

Thank you for your answers.

Thank you.

But this software does not work. I select a eboot file and it does not do anything... and it is closed source. Moreover I would like to know how kexploit works in order to create my own scripts to do that automaticaly, so I would like to find a tutorial or a person that can explain me clearly how the kexploit works...

2) There is still the second question : does psp toolchain works on MacOS X with xcode installed?

Thank you.

yes it should work. it works for me, i have no problems with it. you must place a eboot.pbp 1.0 version, in order for it to work. AND you have to have your psp plug into your mac. because it transfers it directly.

Also, How it works?

1.0 Eboot has the following files on average

data.psp
icon0.png
param.sfo

1.5 Eboot has the following files on average

in 1.5 Eboot%
icon0.png
param.sfo

in 1.5 Eboot
data.psp renamed to eboot.pbp

for #2, i dont know, i dont usually code in mac, use linux or cygwin.

This is midly amusing. He already IS using linux.

As for an answer, please STFF, you will find a stickied note in the PSPSDK forum. It says very clearly how to set up the toolchain on OS X.
