so getting into all this psx iso hype...
Does anyone have a comcept for shrinking psx isos?
Like replace media files with dummy ones:
.str
.cstr
.mov
.xa
please post if you are willing to help make a universal ripkit for psx iso
(legal ones ofcourse)

i didnt know psx iso were so undocumented...
well
ive managed it strip off 33947648 bytes(32.375 mb) of worthless space from the eternal eyes iso(.bin)
it went from 380,764,160 bytes(363.125 mb)
to 346,816,512 bytes(330.75 mb)
i am still working on ripping it more i just have to discover new methods...
im not going to offer a link to my ripkit on this forum because im not quite sure if it allowed...

They're undocunented because you are on the wrong forum.

Apparently there is no such thing, so they can't be documented.
The point being that the topic of making ISOs smaller by omitting data is
only of benefit to those who wish to fit more of them into a given space.
Non developmental discussion can only further demean any legitimate
interest in the topic.

I don't see much point in developing apps that only rip specific games, as far as the general public is concerned.
Of course, doing it for games you like is something, but if you do it for everyone then people will just keep bugging you over and over again for games they like and you'll not do anything else in your life.
I think it pays WAY more to just research about the ISO/BIN formats and manipulate the files inside, ie: as you said, replace the media files with dummy ones.
PocketISO (for FPSEce) does just that. You might want to look at the FPSEce forums (google).

uhh, believe me, i know EVERYTHING about bin/iso, cd-rom/cd-xa, and the iso-9660 secification, i just dont know how to program gui applications... lol
ive made a few personal programs that run off the command line but thats just about it
anyway, about the iso file manipulation... with psx isos you must keep cetain files at the right LBA in order for it to still work
i'm going to look into creating gui application that way i may release my programs to the general public for public use...
thanks for your input

Locked, for hopefully obvious reasons.
