It calls firmware supplied libraries (compare with libfoo.so), which may use syscalls, bang the hardware, or whatever.

Thanhda:

I have a 1.0 jp unit.

I took my webserver down as there was too much traffic for my poor little linksys router. Thanks for providing a mirrored image.

The elf was compiled using the ps2dev toolchain, and I have no idea if/when source will be publically released.

Look harder. Hint: The name of the library is "sceDisplay".

Hi guys, I must say I am highly impressed!!! Unfortunately my psp came with 1.5 already :-( sob sob.

So is this open source? can we see :-D pweeassseee

I wanna work on a stand alone browser, as I am a student and haven't really done much development, apart from at uni, I would need all the help and advise.

keep up the good work!

It doesn't say that they are 1.0. In fact, the new PSP-1000's are 1.5.

Also, since the PSP doesn't have TV out, PAL/NTSC isn't an issue.

we are not claiming this as ours. THIS IS TOTALY DIFFERNT THAN OURS.. they used ps2 and converted the elf to a pbp.. the source that was leaked is totaly diffent. it was black and white and had to gfx.. WE ARE NOT CLAIMING THIS AS OUR WORK.

What does that mean?

Can you clarify?

Thanda, NTSL, PAL, etc etc are with regards to the way the voltages that make up the light...ok i'm not going to go into this, but the boards that set these standards are different in different countries

for example:
The NTSC standard for television defines a composite video signal with a refresh rate of 60 half-frames (interlaced) per second. Each frame contains 525 lines and can contain 16 million different colors.

quoted from http://www.pcwebopaedia.com/TERM/N/NTSC.html

just to clearify, so laptops, pda's, and the psp (thank goodness) are region free. its just TVs and TVs only.

Had to say something about it because we just did this in a module this year :-D and knowledge is power

I take it we can now use this to find the keys or a way to run on 1.5. Also, it should be possible to dump the 1.0 firmware (though it may not be very useful).

Jeez, why doesn't Sony just support this! They'd get a lot more credit and support that way -- this way they just lose.

Their demo was in black and white w/o graphics, supposedly.

looks like i have to resort to getting this wipeout game for starts, only got my PSP 2days ago.

Like the analogy someone rightly used, it has so many windows and bars and metal doors, we just need to find a we to get in!!! and "nem" just broke one of the locks right here (kudos!)

does the libhttp prx file come on wipeout as a readable or would i have to find a way to decrypt it? I was reading a post about a wipeout hack somewhere...

Please do not confuse me with nem. He did all the work, I'm currently just a guy with a v1.0 psp and a camera. :)

Reminds me... didn't someone offered some money to the first guy running homebrew on the PSP ? I think nemnem won the price :P

wouldn't be great if we figure out how to degrade to 1.0. My guess is if we get access to the debug menu (which seems impossible to find) then maybe we can restore orignal firmware.

Pretty sure it's located on a UMD instead of on the psp itself. May be wrong though.

According to an un-named source on PS2NFO.com it is possible to reflash the PSP back to V.1.0...

"A source has let us know that it is feasible to re-flash your PSP using the legitimate (but difficult to locate) v1.00 firmware... but at this time it's not recommended doing so unless you REALLY know what you're doing. Stay tuned for more info soon on this topic!"

I'd obviously prefer a way to run code on the latest version of the firmware but of course beggars can't be choosers :-)
I would be extremely sceptical of anything ps2nfo.com (formerly ps2ownz.com) says. They do not have a good history.

Congrats! I'm gonna use the pic as my background :) Keep up the awesome work..

BTW, not like I have any real clue what I'm talking about, but I think that fooling with the ghost file is probably the next step.. (not like this hasn't been said, but... damn, I'm exited...)
