PS2 MAME source tarball?

Post by puddles »

Greetings all. First time poster.

I've been playing a bit with the binary distribution of the PS2 Build of MAME. Does anyone have the source tarball used to build that demo? I'd like to clean up/fix up a few things in it. This will be my first foray into PS2 development, but I'm hoping once I get the toolchain set up that the tweaks I want to make will be fairly simple.

I sent an email to Tirfing, but I figured I'd drop a post here about it, as well.

Thanks, in advance, for any help!

Hi puddles, and welcome !

concerning mame, I think that everybody (including mysef) is looking for it, and tirfing never answers to email (at least those one guessing for the source)

anyway, let's hope that one day, someone will be enough motivated to restart a new fresh port ;)

I think you'ld be better of to start with the latest version and work in support for the current ps2sdk than to try to update that OLD code. Go to the xmame site and get the very latest *ix code base to work from. The version used for PS2MAME is so outdated it's ridiculous.

PS2mame source tarball

I thought there would be little point in using a later mame because most of the newer game additions would be too cpu intensive to run on a PS2, plus the fact that it would be a massive file. Who wants to play 300 different versions of MahJong anyway?

I would like to have a look at the source, if only to bodge in 2 controller support.
