PMP Mod v2.02 & PMP Mod AVC v1.02
re: Jonny
Hey Jonny
thanks for answering my question. I just encoded an episode of Ghost in the Shell: SAC to PMP, and it looks gorgeous. I have UMD movies, and this software gives the UMD quality a run for the money. Great job!
So no one's had any problems with the overclocking @ 333 mhz? I'm just a bit paranoid that I'll burn out my PSP or something.

Hi there !
I am now simply totally satisfied with my settings. Quality is 99% UMD like, if source is at least DVD - always and 100% for sure !!! The secret are first sharpening filter with not too high values (15-20max) and second many many passes. My first perfect sample movie is a 7-pass file, Riddick Directors Cut with about 1,5GB - I´m overwhelmed !! Brightness filter is not needed or recommended, as you can use the top-triggers with malcoms mod instead, which is more felxible.
@Jonny
There is definetely a bottleneck issue depending on the stick and - I suppose - fragmentation on the stick. If there is a stuttering on low bitrates, I have to press stop, the stick-light flashes several times, then go on and the stuttering is gone. Imho I would say increasing the puffer a little bit would be the solution.....

here is 3 suggestions.
1/ save settings (if i set "800kbps, it stay at 800 each time i lauch it) =)
2/ allow to encode .mod and .rmvb format
3/ a little bug when you load a 4/3 movie !
Pliz continu your work ... AMAZING !!!! near perfection for me !
(and great thx for the size calculator !! :)
Can't waittttttttt =)

your psp is designed to run at 333mhz , they actually underclock it!softgun wrote:

some games soon might use 333
yawoo, I entered ""keyint=250" in "Extra->Video Encoder" under WinMEnc as you said but the encoding process would not start. Perhaps it's just me so it will help if somebody tries this and posts their results also.

Did you know winmenc 0.5x encodes directly from a vob file??????daume wrote: but with winmenc i didnt succeed to ripping directly a dvd into pmp :'( so if someone has a solution (i dont want to rip my dvd into an xvid avi .. before encoding into pmp (too long) it would be nice
Just add the vob file in the batch list - works perfect!
Just rip the DVD to your hard drive as 1 large vob file using dvd dycriptor or claddvd.
No need to convert to avi first - and this gives you a direct dvd to pmp encode.
In reading your statement above i'm guessing you're converting a DVD to avi then converting the avi again to make a pmp movie.
If so you're actually reducing the quality of your final encode as you're re-encoding an avi file into another avi file thats sitting in a modified container (pmp).
The process under winmenc should be VOB > XvidAVI+MP3 > muxed to PMP
If I have misunderstood you and you are already doing the above - then MPEG2/AC3 or any other video/audio source will need to be converted into and AVI(MPEG4)/MP3. It has to be converted to xvid/divx first as the Video/Audio stream is needed to make a PMP file possible.
Hope that helps
J.

I got your PM. Uhm, not sure how to give a detailed setup but let me try. The softwares I use are :
DVD Decrypter,
Virtualdubmod,
BeLite,
Jonny's PMPmuxer.
To add any DVD's VOB files in Virtualdubmod is a two step process. First step involves you deciding which chapters from the DVD need to be ripped. Then open the DVD with DVD Decrypter. Find the chapter with the most time and you'll be fine. I highly suggest you tweak the settings of DVD Decrypter to make/rip 1 big VOB file for your HDD.
The second step. Open this VOB file in Virtualdubmod and you're back to the usual Xvid encoding methods. Find tutorials at videohelp-dot-com. Also learn how to use the Sharpen filter(gives UMD quality to the result!). Once done, directstream the finished avi file without the audio(read tuts at videohelp on how to remove audio) and let's suppose this audio-less-avi file is 'A' for reference purpose of the final explaination.
Now open the 'stable' BeLite(a BeSweet GUI, google for it!) and open the same VOB in here as well. Choose the MP3 tag and set it according to the settings described at Jonny's website(try 1st page of the thread for link). Let's suppose the resultant CBR mp3 file is 'B'.
Open Jonny's PMP Muxer. Now, as we discussed above, choose 'A' in the first line and 'B' in the second line. Third line is where you decide to save the file and give it a name. Once these 3 steps done, press the GO button and you'll find yourself a nice PMP format file.
Sorry for not going into too much detail. Hope this helped. I'll see if I can take the time out to create a full fledged tut with pics n all. But not anytime soon, too busy creating my collection into PMP format.

Re: PMP Simple Converter 0.05 for memcoder and pmp_muxer
Could you add a cropping option like virtualbub filter? in example, top crop and botton crop in pixels to remove black borders.miemt11 wrote:PMP Simple Converter 0.05 for memcoder and pmp_muxer

Sorry for being rude but if you really want to help with this then please, why not try to find a solution that helps everyone instead of just the ones who know programming? Really appreciate if you don't take it as an offense but actually try to help Jonny add a solution to audio stuttering instead of pointing the concerned at your old posts. Thanks for understanding :)

I am working on it.
Second.
I am pointing to my old post to avoid repetitions. If you read all posts, you can see that jonny takes into account this subject. So everyone will have the solution as soon as possible.
Third.
I don't understand your attitude. Are you doing something to help?
PD:I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from blurting it out about this guy
everything must be analyzed and benchmarked in the correct way before i touch the reading routines.
there could be different performance with different memstick, but until i get some test on the std 32MB memstick i can't decide if/how to change some stuffs.
everyone should not worry too much about technical aspects (at least everyone not able to give exact data/numbers and technical help :)
if a problem is reported, it will be analyzed and, if possible, sorted
if, after pause, the stuttering is gone, this indicate more a complex scene, not read bottleneck

this is not an indicator of reading bottleneck, it's simply that a full second of audio/video is buffered while you are in pause. If there is a stuttering on low bitrates, I have to press stop, the stick-light flashes several times, then go on and the stuttering is gone.

Take it easy pal. As what you assumed is clearly in total contrast with what I had even intended. Let's get back to topic now that the misunderstanding is over.PD:I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from blurting it out
You can say it is not an offense, but it sounds like that. Try to use a less rude tone next time.yoshaw wrote: Uhm... Virtualdubmod doesnt recognise a VOB
i have ben happily converting my Avi's now i would like to try a few DVDs.
however when i rip a DVD to a 1 file vob with dvd decrypter
Virtualdubmod can open it but only converts the 1st chapter.
I have used the setting in DVD decrypter to not split the files.
It plays ok in Power DVD
any ideas anyone?

I am packing a ready pack for everyone to use without having to download stuff, put them into folders, move them around etc.
So they can simple Download, UnPack/UnZip, and click and GO!
;)
Please wait, I am uploading it right now. Hopefully that can answer a few questions before they are even asked.
