[Question] Developing Homebrew software

Post by marcelo.chong »

I would like to start and learn how to develop a software for PSP.

But my psp is playing UMD...not iso file.

If i install the 2.6 firmware, can it still play UMD ?

To run our own software, is it a must, to install the firmware?

thanks ^_^

First, DO NOT update the firmware.

What firmware do you have now? If it's 1.00, 1.50, 1.51, 1.52 or 2.00 you are lucky and can have easy-to-load homebrew (or just downgrade to 1.50).

If it's 2.01 or 2.50 you need the Grand Theft Auto: Liberty Cities UMD to run any homebrew on it that will work with it (user mode).

You put your homebrew apps/games on memory stick and then run them with the GTA loader. It has nothing to do with UMD/ISO games. You don't have to worry about it at all.

yes there's no problem in running umd games if you use homebrew but to run homebrew you need GTA:LCS umd on 2.60 to run eloader that allows you to run homebrew

well at the moment there is no other solution ... in the future who knows :)

the other possible solution is finding a 1.50,1.51,1.52 or 2.00 psp that can be all downgraded to 1.50 so you can have full access to homebrew.

If you have the money, I highly recommend what hubevolution is suggesting. That way you have one PSP that's always up-to-date and can always play the latest UMD games, and another PSP that never gets updated that can do all of your homebrew stuff.
