PSP Multi Firmware Project
PSP Multi Firmware Project
Today received the "PSP Multi Firmware module" Sample PCB
i Will test it tomorrow, if every things is ok,
will start to produce ^o^
Note : this is not a [mod chip] Project
and it can't Downgrade PSP FW 2.50/2.60/2.70
my 6 set PSP ^o^
1st PSP w/ FW 1.00
2nd PSP w/ FW 1.00 update to 1.50
3rd PSP w/ FW 2.50 Multi Firmware Mod 50% success (can't use FW 2.00, 1.50)
    external FW 2.50, 2.60, 2.70
4th PSP w/ FW 1.51 Multi Firmware Mod 100% success
    external FW 1.50, 2.00, 2.50, 2.60, 2.70
5th PSP w/ FW 2.50 Multi Firmware Mod 50% success (can't use FW 2.00, 1.50)
    external FW 2.50, 2.60, 2.70
6th PSP w/ FW 2.01 Multi Firmware Mod 100% success
    external FW 1.50, 2.00, 2.50, 2.60, 2.70
about 50% success :
in new ver PSP (FW 2.50/2.60 from factory)
it use new "protection"
maybe w/ new bootloader ?
so it can not use old ver FW
if you paste old ver FW in it
it will not boot
new ver PSP (FW 2.50/2.60 from factory)
it just can Upgrade
and can not Downgrade !!
How-To : PSP Multi Firmware Mod
copy PSP internal NAND Flash
http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=5326
program it to a samsung 32MB NAND Flash
wrapping Nand bus for external Firmware
PSP Multi Firmware Mod schematic
2.60 new "protection" :
if you replace the flash0/vsh/etc/index.dat w/ old ver index.dat
when you power-on you will get a error screen
2.50 new "protection" :
if you replace the flash0/vsh/etc/index.dat w/ old ver index.dat
you will can not lunch update EBOOT.PBP
on FW 2.xx you also can not replace [new ver PRX files] with [old ver PRX files]
http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=5533
if anyone need 2.60 FW dump
you can use PspPet's PSAR Dumper w/o Decrypte to dump it
the dumped file is same as file in PSP NAND Flash(except "SIG check key")
PspPet's PSAR Dumper 2.0a w/o Decrypte prx file
this is not a new ver !!!
http://rapidshare.de/files/18878374/psa ... e.zip.html
how to generate "SIG check key" for v2 prx ?
http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=5533
PSAR Dumper 2.0 (PRX 2.0 format decrypted)

Im usure why the first post by 0okm0000 doesnt answer your question... but if yours is 2.01 then it does look that way.
as you can see, there is a fair bit of work to be done to your PSP before you can use multiple firmwares.
BTW, if you cant afford 6 PSP's you need to take in the "other half" factor.
I was looking at 0okm0000's cool pics on the first post and my GF said (rather loudly) Don't even f#### think about it! damm!

why swap the WLAN card?PadPanic wrote:When you have tested this, have you swap the WLAN card,5th PSP w/ FW 2.50 Multi Firmware Mod 50% success (can't use FW 2.00, 1.50)

I mean the MAC adress is known by the firmware.
I'm french and my english is french
i known about MAC ....

0okm0000 and all others I know I asked this in the old now locked thread, but the answer I got was not to my satisfaction... About using bigger RAM, I found out that the development unit has 64 mb for main memory, I don't know if that suggest only flash or both RAM and flash.
My guess would be that the PSP should atleast be compatible with a 64mb flash...
Any thoughts on this?

yes the DEM-100 units carry 64MB
but you cannot just upgrade your psp
with more ram/nand so get the thought
out of your head it just cannot be done
look at the ram lines on your psp mainboard
do you think that you can lift those off successfully
and then lay them down (all being same length from
cpu and still think that the 64MB chip can operate
well if even slow :P ....no i dont think you have
the hardware to so ...because nobody does
so deal with the psps 32MB it is fine and you
really arent going to succeed with trying to upgrade
the RAM/NAND chip
your energies could be used for other activities so
just drop the thought off your mind

Please dot_blank consider the length of the RAM traces at the ball point... They should be the same length if SONY did a good job... Why do we need to cut them, when we can extend them? Sure it will give a small preformance drop...
Sorry for going of topic... Will move my energies back to my studies in organic chemistry and forget about more RAM...
Best regards!

your best bet if you really wanted to persue the RAM expansion
would be to manufacture a board to set on top of NAND
pins (a very thin board please! :D ...just like how mczonk
is doing with a dual firmware ...but instead of having two
chips you could have just one big fat chip ....and lines of equal
length from nand pins to the chip pins ...to insure latency
and well that is the only way its feasable ....otherwise no ;)

The PSPs I pulled apart (Australia) had the MAC addresses stamped into thewhy swap the WLAN card?

metal shielding of the WLAN card. For that reason, I also assumed the MAC
address was stored in the card.
Hi everyone,
Thanks 0okm for the info .
But can you (0okm) please give us the schematics of the NAND Flash Programer and the PSP NAND Flash Adaptor ?
and in the schematic draw of the psp multi firmware project, what do you mean by the cross (X) mark between CE of the nand chip and the PSP CE ?
also, will it work and can I try it on my 1.50 psp with a 2.70 firmware on the second (new) chip ?
And at last, can you tell me where can I find the nand chips for sale ?
And sorry for my English and Thanks Again :) .

DIY NAND Flasher
Hi ,
I bricked my psp while trying to update the firware .I cant send it to sony since im from india. can u help me build a nand flasher .

I know someone with a test station unit and there is a option to switch from 32mb to 64mb memory mode. However, when switched to 64mb apps such as the eloader do not work anymoredigihoe wrote:0okm0000 and all others I know I asked this in the old now locked thread, but the answer I got was not to my satisfaction... It may be possible but who knows if the PSP will actually take advantage of that extra ram, as in the user 2.6 firmware there is no option to switch memory mode, and test station firmware cannot be installed normally on a retail PSP.
success to make soft-swap PSP NAND Flash ^o^
Now can program NAND Flash on-the-fly !!
(use PSP to switch & program NAND Flash)

What a great news~!
We're all looking forward to that comes out~!
But did you solve the problem about the new ver. hardware can't downgrade to lower version firmware?
