Problem with cygwin

Post by Shentok »

I'm not really sure if this is the right place, but whenever I try to run toolchain.sh I get an error.

ERROR: Please make sure you have 'automake' installed.

I tried reinstalling cygwin several times and even selected everything to install. I don't know what else to do. Any help would be most appreciated.

O, Shentok! I have this problem before. This is problem with Cygwin and PC, not with toolchain. Long ago I was trying install toolchain on Windows 2000. It wasn't my PC and it was wery garbaged. And Cygwin was executing some commands incorrectly.
So, now there is Windows XP with clear harddrive and running psptoolchain.

1) Use the same mirror used on the tutorial
(Different mirrors have different/incomplete packages)
2) Make sure you don't have any misc environment paths in the PATH variable messing things up, such as Mingw or DJGPP

The mirror on the tutorial no longer works. Do you know of an alternative that I could use?

meh that mirror did me no good either. something wrong with fresh cygwin installs. goto http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/ download autoconf and automake and pop that in C:\cygwin\usr\local and do the usual commands ./configure make make install. pardon my lack of fully going into it but there's always google.

Listen my advice: kill your Win2000, use WinXP

HmongGuy:
Thank you so very much. It works perfectly now.

Cy-4AH:
It is Windows XP Pro SP2. I just use a Windows 2000 skin. I honestly think the Windows XP Theme is terrible.
