Hi Guys,
I got myself a heart rate monitor today, the two part one with a transmitter
around your chest, and reciever wristwatch.
I've already thrown the watch away, and now recieving the signal from the
transmitter on my PSP! :)
Just a coil of wire around a bolt connected via 3.5 mm plug to the usual
microphone input and I can see my heart beat on Audio Mechanica.
I'll try to work something out with a better reciever biult into a headphone
remote fob.
PS. the standard PSP earphones when connected to a mic input also recieve
the signal if close enough.

Heart Rate Monitor
Of course, as always :D but not quite finished yet.
I was thinking of something like this:

As it is with just a coil of wire, the coil needs to be real close to
the chest transmitter.
I hope I can make a circuit that runs from power provided by the remote.

wow i was just thinking about how cool it would be to make something similar to this gadget I saw on hackaday today, but make it interface with the psp somehow.. lo and behold.... ;D
check this it is what I thought would be neat to somehow make it connect with the PSP.

That looks very well developed. There are some things I have in mind
for excersise sessions.
Ok, I have a working PSP heart rate monitor, due to release the first videos
today, and claim the fame, glory, riches, and women that come along wih
programming for the PSP :)
I'm keen to do a well developed program if someone will produce a circuit
like the one in the link posted above.
I have gone for the coil antenna since it's easy to make and uses no
batteries. This means an wire is virtually attached to the chest strap though,
as the pickup has to be close.
The software detection for a heartbeat is faultless using the audio input library.
Bear in mind when the video does come out (within 12 hours I'd say)
THe app is bare bones debug screen!
Cheers, Art.

Hi to all, and compliments to Art for Audio mechanica/Heart rate monitor ricever.
Please, as well as now we have access to the microphone of the Go!Cam (and of Talkman), may we share any source code for completing and upgrading Audio Mechanica adding with this audio input?
Thanks in advance for your availability.
My best

Thanks :)
I did give away source for the basic app last night on QJ.
Aslo, some vids of the almost finished graphic talking app.

Thanks for this sharing, I'am working on PSP for bikes: GPS with maps, altitude profile, now heart rate monitor and cadence/wheel turns sensors detecting while riding, why not with text to speech (enough memory for all?).Art wrote: I did give away source for the basic app last night on QJ.

What I'm interested too is about how Audio Mechanica is detecting sound profile from REmote controller connection, and designing how to port it detecting sound from USB Microphone instead.
Thanks for help on sound profile detection.
My best to all
