WONDERING how PS3 dev status is going as of 12/30/07?
Hi, I am new here but have been reading off and on about the PS3 dev scene since the PS3 came out. Back then not a lot was going on but not quite sure now as I had to be away for a while. So now I am trying to catch up.
I have read a few interesting things that you guys can now do, like; have 2d access and such via Linux, play PS2 back up games by applying some PS3 manuall mods, etc.
Was wondering if anything else BIG is going on that I should read more about?
Things that would intersest me would be;
1. HELLO world
2. Play back ups (games) via HD
3. Play latest games (original discs) without upgrading firmware
4. Play online games (original discs or via HD) without upgrading firmware
Or anything else you might think I have missed above that is cool to know...

thank you StreetskaterFU for replying
3. and 4. you answered that there are ways to play the LATEST games without updating... are you refering to this method on this thread;
http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=9536
or the one that you have to update to 1.50 and do the proxy bypass thing?
or via the RFOM (Resistance, F1 and Full Auto swap trick)?
Those above are the only ways I knew of... by the way I have a US 1.32 firmware PS3.

Only LEGITIMATE ps3 dvelopment is to be discussed here.
Bypassing firmware checks for purposes of playing newer games is not a legitimate development purpose, and is thus not discussed.
Bypassing checks to prevent a forced upgrade that blocks homebrew from working right is a legitimate topic, though.

but it is illigal to bypass firmware check(the firmware itself contains copyrighted code) and to download or play backup games.it also has nothing to do with ps3 development.maybe this should be moved to The Incredible Hall Of Shame forum.iPostNak3d wrote:@ Shapyi - my question IS related to PS3 dev...
