TBH m8, you'll find it hard to get an answer to this type of question here, this is a development forum, your better off asking this somewhere else.

The answer is easy - take it to a repair shop. :)

or make a prx that patches the syscon wlan switch functions to report always true. Who knows, maybe it works... it depends on whether the hardware itself also checks it or not.

If you can solder, just bridge the switch closed, so it is always on.
THe WLAN device isn't turned on unless the software says so,
so it wouldn't do any harm.
I think the switch is only there to be sure it is disabled around medical equpiment, etc.
so you only need be aware of that.

If you can't take your PSP apart and solder the switch closed,
then you really had no business posting the question unless you expected
someone from our loyal team to come over and fix it for you while you wait.
If not actually, then potentially.

This kind of switch frequently exit from the plastic rails they are mounted on...if you manage to open the psp, putting it in place again should be a piece of cake...

doesn't it use up battery though?

Best bet would be to replace the switch or remove it completely and use a toothpick or something to turn it on. Most new cases come with Switches.

It shouldn't do. The WLAN hardware shouldn't draw too much power when it isn't active.

My bet is it isn't any more active when the switch is up as when it's down,
as long as no software has it turned on.
My WLAN switch has stayed in the on position from day dot.

That would be a waste of time because once it was done you wouldn't post in the thread again.

I know for sure that the WLAN switch has little to do with turning on the WLAN module.
I suspect that the WLAN switch has nothing (NOTHING) at all to do with turning on the WLAN module.

It's probable that the hardware switch will always turn it off,
but that doesn't mean it will always turn it on.
If not actually, then potentially.

When mine broke,I opened my psp,and soldered two pins that this switch would connect when it was switched ON.

The switch does, indirectly, turn on the wlan module when it's flipped. Toggling the switch causes the wlan.prx to start the SceWlanMac and SceWlanHal threads that start the nic, no matter if anything is using it or not (at least in 1.5).

Having written a wifi app and a stop watch, I can quantify exactly how much
of an ass I've made of myself, and it isn't much ;)

The difference between starting an app at 333/333/166 with 100% battery life,
and running the app for 3:30 with the wifi switch up and down is 6% battery
charge.

I'd solder the switch closed if it were broken,
and I'll still always leave it on to prevent it breaking :P

Hi gambiting, i have an old psp with a broken switch. I have Disassembled the psp but i'm not sure which pins i should solder together. If you could provide me a little diagram it would be usefull.

Thanks in advance.

I agree with you at all. Thinking about a wifi module that is consuming power without being used is almost absurd. May be a very little off current but no more than some uA. Nothing to worry about.
