I would like to make a little contest to add incentive to the the PSP reverse engineering effort. Personally im willing to put up $100 for the first person to run a homebrewed application on the PSP. I spoke to Pikoro about having it announced on PSPHacks if there is an interest.
Anyone else interested in something like this? or possibly donating to the cause? Ah well, just an idea post your comments.
Indeed. It would be good to put a legal defense fund together just in case whomever does it first goes about it the wrong way or in the wrong place. ;)
It should be noted that this 'contest' isn't officially sponsored by ps2dev/pspdev.
Waving around a small amount of cash in an attempt to make your demands seem less asinine is a bit tacky anyway.
An ide harddrive for playing divx on the psp? Do they give out crack instead of chocolate for easter nowadays? Did you miss the part that says 'portable'? Buy a personal media player instead already, sheesh.

Crack for easter... XD!
What he meant though, I think, is the capability to stream media from a server to PSP, using a network connection.
EDIT: And I believe Sony is already working on doing just that.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
it said stream media. I meant stream media via wifi off a home server. Anyway if people donated it would help offset the cost individuals incure by going into thier own pocket. Not everyone can afford to get a $250 psp and rip it up in the name of development.

If you meant streaming, then I apologize. I may have read too much into it from that other CF adaptor thread.
As for a contest, how about donating hardware to people with hardware skills instead? I'm sure there's a few folk here who could do wonders with an extra PSP or two to take apart.
