Well, I tried the browser trick with wipeout pure and went to NBA.com. Before I knew it, the music stopped. I then pressed the Home button and the psp turned itself off. I turned it back on and everything was ok again. I then went on slashdot.
To conclude, did I screw up my psp at all or am I just paranoid?

No its not screwed and don't buy a new one.
This is a normal result of the PSP hitting a bug - it shuts down.
At least, its done the same to me every time it crashed on something.
