Japan Wipeout Downloads Released, New User Agent ... (more)
i have the north american version of the psp and wipeout.
i made a mirror of the wipeoutpurepsp.scej-online.jp site on my local web server, and directed the wipeout browser to it.
the browser loads up the download page perfectly, but when it comes to the actual download, it doesn't get far. according to my logs, it downloads the pspdif file from my server ok, but the psp spits up "an error has occured during download"..
the fact that it calls it a "download" tells me that it's actually trying to process the update, but it seems that the us version can't (or won't) handle the jp pspdif file. it never makes a second request for the dat file.
pspdif: psp (d)ownload (i)nstruction (f)ile
just a guess..

All instructions are encrypted
What if...
One assumption I could make is that the file should contain the next file name.
I tried, openssl as a tool to experiment with the random areas hex values as IV and keys, no luck so far.
I think the EBOOT.PBP couldn't work this way so simply, either we have a key in hardware or the key is there... I remember seeing a pointer on my file to 32 bytes less than the PSAR file (looked like a key).
The original download.pspdif should work only with the Japanese version of the game, but should download and expand any zip? Anyone tried it like this?
I have a JP version PSP, and I'm waiting the US Wipeout Pure to check this.
Also... anyone tried making a *.PBP file from the files of a SAVEGAME? to see if it's recognized? Maybe it's just a simple format for internet deployment of file packs.
- each publisher makes it's own AES keys, 256 bit version.
each file in the PARAM.SFO file stores the IV (initialization vector) - one of the changed areas on the file list contains this 16 byte binary data.
The TEST.BIN file has only a 16 byte chunk from mandatory output from the AES-256-cbc (is this confirmed?)

Re: All instructions are encrypted
I wouldn't believe that Sony would allow any developer to produce signed code in any form.
After reading through various threads it is becoming clear to me that if we find an exploit in any form it'll be quickly plugged and no doubt someone will get an emulator to run on a psp devkit but that'll be a far as it goes.

yeah, i made a program for that. it's the PBP explorer w/ sfo editor. and the param.sfo is variable length. i have some that are big, and some that are very small. it's only name/value pairs. nothing terribly special kinda like a mini-database.plmars wrote:I'm trying to focus onto param.sfo cracking because it can help so much in the future. One little update on it. Every single param.sfo has the same exact langth which makes reverse engineering so much easier.

I have never seen a bigger one. Sorry, my mistake. I still have no idea regarding its key though.ChaosKnight wrote:yeah, i made a program for that. it's the PBP explorer w/ sfo editor. and the param.sfo is variable length. i have some that are big, and some that are very small. it's only name/value pairs. nothing terribly special kinda like a mini-database.plmars wrote:I'm trying to focus onto param.sfo cracking because it can help so much in the future.
