n00b question about PSP power port

Post by mediacal »

Hey, i'm new in this, and recently, my PSP stopped charging the battery; it don't turn on, and the battery isn't dead, it gives me with a multimeter 3.6 V, but I think the probrem is caused by the middle pin, ¿what is the use of it? ¿does it send data about battery status? ¿if this is the problem, can it be fixed? I checked continuity, and the 5V from DC IN reachs the motherboard, so the PSP isn't the problem. Hope you can help me, i cant afford a new battery now.

Another thing, I tried to put the 3.6 V onto the terminals, but the PSP didnt turned on. Does the middle pin sends data, or my PSP motherboard is trashed?

yes the middle pin is for sending data and you need to replace the charging connector.. buying a new mobo is not needed.. also if possible, try it with a different battery from your friend or someone..
